Have you heard of the story of a man who joined his friends for a night out at a girlie joint and prayed to God that he be saved from temptations? Or the boy who had promised his mother he won't go swimming at the river during the camping but brought his swimming trunks with him just in case? These examples are classic human tragedies that point out our lack of will to save ourselves from sin. Unwittingly, we make the job of the devil easier by our clinging on our weak points. One author said we can't jump into the devil's side of the fence and ask God for deliverance. When we pray for help, we ought to be at His side of the fence. That's when the Lord will readily come to rescue, swooping down like a knight in shining armor to put us out of harm's way. The kingdom of heaven is likened to a treasure or a pearl, which when found by the person smitten by it goes to sell all he owns to be able to buy it. We know what treasure hunters do. Read more...
