I once had a chance to study basic sign language. It was a desire in my heart to reach out to our brothers and sisters who are of hearing impaired. They too must know God’s love and Divine Mercy. And in time, I wish that they too will be part of the mission. It was not an easy task. It takes a lot of study, practice and immersion with the deaf to be able to know their language.
I have female teachers whose ears are in tune with the language they teach. Although not deaf, you will seldom hear their voice for they are at work with the deaf. And when I talk to them, they will encourage you to speak as well as do the sign language so that the others could understand.
I admire these people. As ordinary as me, they give meaning to a life which is beyond the ordinary. They do extraordinary work for the good of the less privileged.
As for me, I still have a lot do and a long way to go…
