FDMC-Vietnam held its first Treasures monthly fellowship on March 9, 2008 at Rm. B102 Archdiocesan Pastoral Center 6 Bis Ton Duc Thang Dist 1, Ho Chi Minh City. A total of 61 people including children attended the celebration. The program started at 9:30 a.m. with a Holy Mass presided by Fr. Peter Cung. After the Mass, Fr. Cung prayed over and extended his blessings to all February and March birthday celebrators.
After the Mass, Sis. Peng Palmera welcomed all attendees to the event and explained what Treasures is all about. The program proper followed with Sis. Liza Guinto serving as moderator.
Bro. Rene Tumang delivered his topic "Discipline in Service." During his talk, there were people who were already crying with all the words that they began to hear from him. The healing spirit was so strong that Bro. Rene cut short his topic and proceeded right away to a praise and worship activity. He asked the people to stand up to join him in praising God. Bro Allan Tigue made a prayer then sang "Eagles Wings." Sis. Liza joined in the singing and rendered "My Life is in Your Hand," "Have I Told You Lately?" and "Hallelujah to the Lamb."
During the praise and worship, Bro. Rene told the people that at that very moment the Lord was touching everyone present. Three people among the group were slain one after another without Bro. Rene laying his hands on them. All along, the Music Ministry led by Sis. Liza and Bro. Allan, with members Ate Liezl, Kuya Don, Kuya Aldrin and Kuya Richard (playing the guitar) continued to sing. Then Bro. Rene asked those who would like to be prayed over to come in front. He laid his hands on them.
The first woman who was slain was Sis. Yolly Rodil. When asked what happened to her, she said that during the healing session, she felt as if she was being cuddled by Jesus. I asked her if she was feeling any sickness. She told me she would often feel pain in her body but never went to the doctor for check-up. However, after that experience she believed God had already healed her.
Sis. Yolly's son, Mickey, also waited in line to be prayed over. When Bro. Rene placed his hands on the boy's forehead, he was also slain. As Bro. Rene continued to pray for other people, the boy started to raise his hands as if reaching for something. The boy's parents helped hold the boy's oustretched hands.
Then Bro. Rene, in tears, told the crowd that this boy has a special mission. Both parents now were also in tears. He just asked the parents to let Mickey in that position, let him experience whatever it was that was causing him to smile. With both eyes closed, the boy seemed to look very happy. When his father woke him up and asked him what happened, Mickey just said, "I saw Jesus. He held my hand and we walked!" (Sis. Yolly the next day met with the servants and some other friends who were not able to join the Treasures but came to know what happened. She showed the group a drawing that Mickey did that night. It was Jesus, with the red and blue rays, standing in front of Mickey while he lied straight on the floor. Mickey is a seven-year-old boy afflicted with ADHD or attention deficit hyperactivity disorder.)
Bro. Rene called on Fr. Cung, who stayed up to the end of the program, to help him pray over Sir Edwin Villarin. During the pray-over, Fr. Cung suddenly felt an electricity come out of him -- his first-time ever! In his story to us, he said he had been in other organizations in Vietnam but this was the first time he felt it.
The next day after the Treasures, Sis. Rose Tago shared to me her own experience. Ate Rose was monitoring her glucose sugar every morning. Before going to Treasures, she recorded the highest level at 267 mg/dl (very high and dangerous for a diabetic person). By constant prayer, God has allowed her not to maintain insulin. But during that time, she didn't mind going to the Treasures. With Ate Liza Gesulga and Kuya Aldrin, she prepared the altar and also participated in the program. When she checked her sugar level the next day, the reading was 121 mg/dl -- the lowest reading in her record! (God is really alive!)
I believe there are a lot more stories on healing. I have asked them to have it in writing so we can add it to the FDMA's "Miracles of Mercy."
There was another miracle. We needed to finish everything including the cleaning of the venue by 1:30 p.m. because a Vietnamese group will be using the venue (they're quite strict with time here). Almost unbelievably, Bro. Rene ended the program at 12:30 p.m., giving us ample time to let Bro. Goldwyn Yoro to say his birthday wishes for her wife Sis. Fel, who was celebrating her birthday that day.
The program that we planned to have did not materialize but it was God's way that ruled on that day. This was what Fr. Peter Cung told Bro. Rene, Sis. Liza and Bro. Allan after the seminar: "You are all anointed, your community is anointed. Your work is very good and will help more people in knowing the Lord. You can really help in the mission of the Church."
