FDMC-Vietnam holds October 'Treasures'

Sis. Elaine May Sangre

FDMC-Vietnam observed its 8th Treasures last Oct. 19 at Tan Dinh Church, Ho Chi Minh City, with eighty-five people in attendance. A Spiritual Enhancement Experience (SEE) seminar was also held on that day.

The monthly fellowship started at 9:30 a.m. with a Holy Mass celebrated by Fr. Peter Cung. After the mass, Fr. Cung gave a special blessing to birthday celebrators and those who were celebrating their wedding anniversaries.

The seminar proper followed, with Bro. Rene Tumang discussing “Servanthood Series: Leadership Secrets of Jesus.”

Part I included the following points:

     •    In prayer, it's better to have a heart without words, than words without a heart.

     •    If you want to be happy, be kind to the poor.
     •    Jesus loves what is righteous and just.

Part II, which came after the lunch break, focused on the following points:
     •    God teaches us to be fishermen.
     •    Jesus' ministry begins by listening.
          -  A good listener is a good teacher.
          -  Listening in silence is listening to God.
     •    Jesus heals many people.
          -  Healing is knowing God.
          -  God is the only healer.

There was a workshop in which the participants were divided into small groups, with six members in each group. It was a time to share on the lessons learned, as well as future plans for the continuous propagation of FDMC in Vietnam.

Among the points raised in the sharing:

     •    FDMC enhances and renews spiritual life.
     •    God must be the center of one's life.
     •    Commitment should come from the heart.
     •    Continue to serve God through DMOB and sharing of blessings.

     •    Live by faith and lift up everything to God.
     •    Take time to listen.
     •    Find a permanent venue for the Treasures.

After the sharing, there was a lighting of candles and participants were asked to say a recommitment prayer. The participants then exchanged their candles with each other, while saying “God bless you.”

Bro. Rene ended the activity at 5:30 p.m. with a prayer.
