by Sis. Jenny Laquindanum At the World Youth Day in Manila in 1995, Pope John Paul II said, “As Jesus with the disciples of Emmaus, so the church must become the travelling companion of young people.”
Sis. Dina tells the youth members on how to make it right the first time.
With this as inspiration, the Friends of the Divine Mercy embarked with its journey to mold its next generation of young disciples with its first Divine Youth Prayer Meeting held last Oct. 19, 3-5 p.m., at San Carlos Seminary, Guadalupe, Makati City.
The event had the theme “For the First Time.” Sis. Jenny Laquindanum and Sis. Gemma Palmera served as facilitators.
The program began with a Chaplet prayer, led by Sis. Des del Rosario and Sis. Rosa Pascual, both from Malabon. Sis. Jenny welcomed everyone to the event.
Sis. Apple Ortega, also from Malabon, led a joyful song and dance with a little twist – the participants were asked to find a new partner after the singing of “Kumusta Ka?” and ask questions about each other.
Gospel reading followed. Sis. Aya Bagas from Pasay made a short insight and led the praise and worship.
Sis. Dina Balicanot delivered a talk on “Making It Right the First Time,” encouraging the members to find their purpose, to please and know God, to commit themselves for spiritual growth, and to sacrifice in service to make all their first times right and blessed by the Heavenly Father.
The youth members had fun with the game “Hep Hep Hooray!” patterned from that of a local noontime TV show.
The members then prayed the “Dasal ng Pagpapala” and sang the FDMC song and “Every Move I Make” for the finale.
Fifty-seven youth members from the community's different chapters (Caloocan-10, Main-2, Pasig-11, Pasay-7, Villamor-6, Malabon-16, Las Piñas-5) attended the meeting. |
