If there’s one biblical passage that would aptly describe the ambiance at the Layforce Chapel of San Carlos Seminary last October 28, 2007, it would be, “For where your treasure is, there will your heart be also.” (Luke 12: 34) As expected, all roads – and hearts – led to Treasures’ 4th Anniversary that cheery afternoon. The venue was overwhelmed by the presence of expectant Friends coming from all directions. The jubilant mood indoors blended well with the bright atmosphere outdoors.
A celebration of four years of treasure-hunting with the theme “4 & More!” the revelry took off with a Holy Mass celebrated by Rev. Fr. Ric Torrefiel. The homily focused on the virtues of humility, repentance and forgiveness. Praise and Worship, headed by Bro. Rene Tumang, came next. Here, fellowship was felt full to the brim and twice over. The worship started and ended with tactile exercises ala “I’m here because you’re here.” But, certainly, Christ was the center of all the glory and adoration. Afterward, the Web and Media Ministry showed an audio-visual presentation outlining the four glorious years of Treasures, with Sis Rose Minas as voice-over. Then, the inter-chapter dance competition proper followed. The dance ministers of Las Piñas-Villamor, Pasig , Malabon and Pasay , respectively strutted their own stuff. Needless to say, they made their chapters roar. Incessant cheers, screams and claps filled the air. The angst made the friendly competition more exhilarating. Bro Rene, Bro Don Dawa and Sis Vanessa Villanueva completed the panel of judges. Two separate production numbers from the Youth Ministry followed. Sis Grace Dawa, head of the ministry, led the rhythmic movements. Subsequently, Bro Allan Tigue led and blessed the recommitment rites (wine drinking), the love/tithes offering and the gift-giving (contained food-to-s hare). Then, Sis Madel Espiritu rendered her own interpretation of a heart-warming song. After which, she received the 13th Face of Faith award. Sis. Honey Oasan, Treasures head, gave away special prizes to the family with the most number of attendees at Treasures, as well as to two April 4 birthday celebrators (4/4 for 4th year of Treasures). The announcement of winners topped off the celebration. Las Piñas-Villamor’s Hawaiian-inspired number got the judges’ nod. Malabon, Pasay and Pasig , respectively followed suit. Las Piñas-Villamor took home the grand prize of P5,000 while the others got the consolation prize of P2,500 each. Bro Lito Dawa and Sis Dina Balicanot served as moderators throughout the entire program. |
