by Bro. Eric Wee The year saw the resurgence of FDM-Cebu. With the help of members of FDM-Vietnam who are currently on vacation, the chapter was revived to continue and promote the missions and advocacies of the community.
Last Feb. 13-14, the community held a Catholic Life in the Spirit (CLSE) seminar for the new Batch 1 of the chapter at the Living the Gospel Renewal Center (a place run by the nuns of the Living Gospel Community) in Cebu City. A total of 46 participants, mostly family and relatives of FDM-Vietnam members, responded to the invitation for a renewed life and transformation. Also in attendance were four postulants, including Sr. Ma. Ferolina Degamo Ngujo, the postulant directress of the LGC. Bro. Edwin Villarin started the event with an opening prayer. He also served as the moderator for Day one and oriented the participants of what to expect in this seminar. Bro. Rene Tumang, director and adviser, together with the Friends preachers and guest speakers, presided over the discussion of the topics prepared for the seminar. The speakers and topics discussed were as follows: 1. Bro. Boboy Gacrama (Oasis of Love-Cebu ) - Praise & Worship 2. Bro. Noe Dora (Oasis of Love-Cebu ) - God's Love & Salvation 3. Bro. Lito Dawa - New Life 4. Bro. Bot Balbero - Growth & Transformation 5. Bro. Rene Tumang - Receiving God's Gift Bro. Rene also administered the Baptism in the Holy Spirit at the Oratory of the nuns, their prayer room beside the seminar hall. Here, Bro. Rene requested everyone to remove their shoes before entering the holy place and thereafter to kneel down before the Lord. It was a different experience for everyone as Bro. Rene started to place his hands on their heads. Other highlights of the seminar was Bro. Bimbo Tecson's inspirational speech where he conveyed how God touched his life and the role of the community in helping him change from his troublesome ways. Bro. Rene requested all participants to group themselves by areas (Mandaue City, Cebu and Cordova City) and to discuss plans of expanding the Divine Mercy on the Block in their area. Msgr. Joe Tajanlangit officiated the Holy Mass, which capped the two-day seminar. He emphasized that the Holy Mass is not an obligation, but a privilege. Furthermore, he said that everyone is blessed to be present on that day. The seminar ended with the commissioning and graduation of the participants. The Music & Dance Ministry provided the joyful and dance number, while Bro. Allan Tigue led the praise and worship. Sis. Marife, together with the other nuns, volunteered to be the event's prayer warriors. FDM-Vietnam members who served as auxies were Bro. Edwin and Sis. Emma Villarin, Bro. Richard and Sis. Carla Alqueza, Sis. Lisa Gesulga, Sis. Liezl Dawa, Sis. Elsie and Chloe Zambo, Sis. Rose and JM Tago, Bro. Dodong and Sis. Juliette Cordeno, Bro. Chito Durano, Sis. Nesnie Doron, Sis.
