Jesus in Our Midst

Jn. 21:1-14

F
or more than a week now, I have been attending Mass every day and I feel the great comfort and peace that I have never felt before. Receiving Jesus daily is truly a wonderful experience. I can feel His presence in my life and I feel so secure in spite of the many problems and concerns I have. The occasions of sin have been neutralized and He continues to assure me of His provisions not only for my own needs, but also for the needs of our less fortunate brethren.

In our Gospel today, Jesus appeared for the third time to His disciples after His resurrection. They failed to catch a single fish that time. And Jesus instructed them to throw the net near the shore and they were not able to pull the net because of the great number of fish they caught. Jesus provided for them more than they needed that day. He showered His faithful disciples with overflowing blessings to show how much He loved and cared for them.

This story is a reminder to us that with the resurrected Christ in midst, we can receive God’s sanctifying grace for ourselves, our family, friends, classmates, officemates, neighbors, community and country. We can become God’s channel to bring miracles and healing to those who are in need of physical, emotional, financial, spiritual healing and a lot more.

We have to receive Christ every day for us to consistently represent Him in all the people we meet daily. We have all the reasons to live enthusiastically and always look forward to do the will of the Father. We have to joyfully expand our horizons as we now move towards working for the benefit of other people.

Friends, it is when we attempt to do what we do without Jesus that life seems barren, a failure and empty. But when Jesus is the aim and the pinnacle, the beginning and the end of what we do, then life is forever full of meaning.

Prayer:

Generous God, we are so blessed to have You in our lives. You are the reason for our being and we thank You for allowing us to receive You daily through the Holy Eucharist. May all of us always find time to commune with You every day. Amen.
