A Merciful Love

Jn. 18:1-19:42

J
esus Christ offered His life today for the ransom of many. Though holy, unblemished and without sin, He suffered heavily and died on the cross with all humiliation to save us. He has shown His mercy and love for all sinners, especially those who have caused His death. He asked the Father to forgive them for they know not what they do.

All throughout His three-year ministry, Jesus healed the sick, proclaimed the Good News, appointed and developed new apostles and disciples. His main goal was to convert sinners and make them worthy heirs of God s kingdom. He was persecuted for doing the works of the Father, but He persevered until the end.

Today, Jesus is asking us to die with Him. We have to die from our sinfulness, self-centeredness and disobedience. Many of us are enjoying our vices, our unfaithfulness, our wrongdoings and we justify all the misdemeanors we do. It’s about time to make a turnaround and live only a holy life.

Many of us are selfish. We only think of our own future, our own family and focus only on our own being. We take for granted the people around us, especially those who are in need of help. We have forgotten that God created us for others, that our mission is to give our lives for the salvation of our brethren.

Like Jesus, we are called to be an obedient child to fulfill the will of the Father - to  reciprocate His love by loving our enemies, praying for our persecutors and being good to the people who have wronged us. We have to free ourselves from our unforgiveness and start spreading God s love and mercy through our good words and deeds.

A lot of people are suffering because they continue to disregard the Father. We must imitate the life of Jesus whom God glorified through Him. No amount of sufferings, sacrifices and difficulties can ever stop us from becoming a merciful and loving person.

Friends, Jesus is calling us to renew our lives and become a new creation come Resurrection Day. We have all the chance and time to prove how much we love our God. Let us allow Jesus to reconstruct our hearts now.

Prayer:

Loving Jesus, we thank You for giving Your life to save us. Help us to become like You always, willing to give selfless love and bring more people to Your kingdom. Amen.
