M arch is graduation month. Responsible and diligent students will reap their rewards by graduating with honors. Those who have taken their studies for granted will have to wait for another semester or another year to take part in the commencement exercises. Time and money were put to waste and the students lost the opportunity to move to the next level. In the same token, God created us to become responsible Christians. Parents must provide the financial and spiritual needs of their family. Married couples are called to be faithful to one another. Children must obey their parents. Employers are asked to be fair to their employees. Workers must do their work effectively and efficiently. Servant leaders and community workers are expected to do an exemplary work in their respective ministries.
Different functions, varied roles but the same commitment and results are expected of us. We ought to follow the will of God in our lives. After all, we were created to continue what He has started and not what we desire to have in life.
Joseph, upon learning that Mama Mary was pregnant with the Holy Spirit, was planning to divorce her in secret. But an angel appeared to him in a dream and asked him to take Mary as his wife. When Joseph woke up, he took Mary as his wife and he became a responsible husband and a good father to Jesus. Just like Joseph, we have a tendency to run away from our responsibilities and privilege to take our role seriously in bringing salvation to mankind. Most of us are still in the denial stage, and that this task is only given to a chosen few. The truth is, all of us were given the same specific function to become His messengers. The only difference is that others have embraced God’s mission with gusto while others continue to ignore His call.
Friends, the Lord is knocking on your heart right now and will continue to do so until such time that you will open it up to Him. He wants you to be happy, to be blessed and to become a blessing to others. Jesus desires to have you as a vital player of His team, proclaiming His mercy and love throughout the world.
The Lord expects you to follow the lead of Joseph in accepting your role in bringing Christ to every person you encounter, in every event you attend and in every place you go. Doing so will assure you of a place in heaven.
Prayer:
Heavenly Father, You have always been a responsible God to all of us. You have provided for all our needs and You continue to pour out Your blessings upon us. May all of us come to realize that we, too, are expected to become responsible children of God as seen in everything we do in our family, schools, workplace and community. Amen. |
