I really like the song "Seasons of Love" from the Broadway musical Rent. A line goes like this, "How do you measure the life of a woman or a man?... measure your life in love."
So true for today's Gospel! Life becomes a waste if there is no love - if we do not share, give and spread it. God is telling us today that in verything we say and do, we should remember the love.
When we have love, we will show mercy and warmth replaces the coldness in our world.
When we have love, we will not judge and criticisms will become affirmations. When we have love, we will stop condemning people and acceptance will instead flourish.
When we have love, we will forgive and there will be no more blaming.
When we have love, we will be generous and there will be enough for everyone. Friends, that is how our life should be, simpler than we think it is.
Instead of always keeping tab with what others had done or had not done, let's focus on ourselves - what can we offer and how much can we offer. It should always be from us and not towards us, as God Himself has done.
The love we show our neighbor will present to the world the face of Christ. So, let us not forget to remember the love!
Prayer:
Lord, we thank You for Your love for us. May we love like You do and give unreservedly to our brethren, for that makes us Your children. Amen. |
