Watch Your Thoughts

Mk 7:14-23

W
ant to know a person deeper and closer? Hear the words that come out from his mouth. You'll catch him by what he says.

I always believe that speech is the mirror of the soul. The soul only processes what enters it, just like the mind or the stomach. So, if it's fed with immoral thoughts or negative emotions, the person becomes adverse, irritable or contemptible. He doesn't speak about goodness, but all the trash in his soul.

It's a struggle to be pure amidst all the social, moral and spiritual corruption going on around us.

Thus, we should be observant to see we're not going off-course. Otherwise, there's no turning back and we're consumed by the corruption that has creeped into our soul.

     This simple warning actually works:

Watch your thoughts, for they become words.
Watch your words, for they become actions.
Watch your actions, for they become habits.
Watch your habits, for they become character.
Watch your character, for it becomes your destiny.

Our duty as Christians is to be light to the world. And so we must fill ourselves only with the goodness of God so we'll speak only kind, loving and encouraging words to others.

Prayer:

Heavenly Father, fill us with thoughts of You and with Your Spirit so we become Your mouthpiece, evangelizing the world with sweet words and caring  actions. Amen.
