| Begin Again to Remember God |

(New Beginnings for God's Friends Series) Sis. Dina Balicanot Jan. 20, 2010 Scripture Inspiration: Deuteronomy 6:10-12 - "When the Lord, your God brings you into the land which he swore to your fathers, Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, that he would give you, a land with fine, large cities that you did not build, with houses full of goods of all sorts that you did not garner, with cisterns that you did not dig, with vineyards and olive groves that you did not plant; and when, therefore, you eat your fill, take care not to forget the Lord who brought you out of the land of Egypt, that place of slavery." * We are forgetful creatures. Life has a way of dulling our memories. Going with the flow of the world tends to dilute the excitement of the past. This creates negative impact with our relationship with God. * Story of Israelites is the great illustration of this reality. They continually forgot how God worked in their lives abnd the promises He had made to them. * Over and again, God has worked through our lives. Still, we are reluctant to trust God our future, relationships, ministry. * We are short-sighted! We only tend to remember what God has done for us lately. We tend to expect God to constantly prove himself to us in order to have our trust. * We should be intentional about taking time to remember how God has worked, has taught us and how our lives have changed - because our faith is weak! * Those who do not think much do not thank much. Ps 143:5 - "I remember the days of old; I meditate on all Thy works; I muse on the work of Thy hands." * Remember/make mental list of people, places and experiences which remind us of the many things God has done in our lives. Phil 1:3 - "I thank my God every time I remember you." * Remember where we come from, how do we got here, and how we got this far. Remember His power, protection, provision, presence. * Don't know what to do? Remember that God will not ever forget about us! Isaiah 49:16 - "See, I have written your name on the palms of My hands; your walls are ever before Me." * Remembering what God has done should encourage our spirit, supplications (prayer life) and our service! * God wants us to remember Him because it will bless us more, having thankful and grateful hearts. * Everything we have is a gift from God. Let's pray for an even greater ability to appreciate all that we already have! What's in our minds? Do we have a good memory of what God has done for us? Keep on telling our stories that we may never lose our sense of awe and wonder of His great love for us! 1 Thes 5:18 - "Give thanks in all circumstances for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you."
