I' ll let you in on a little secret about my life as a journalist. I often get scoops or exclusive stories from the secretaries and aides of the officials that I run after. Once I know the whereabouts of their bosses or who they are talking to, I know what's going on and I have a big story.
I call these people gatekeepers, because they hold the key or access to the doors of their bosses. Sometimes, as in this case, straight lines don't always work. We need a little runaround with the staff to hit the subject.
